Julie Sommerville (b.1972) is a contemporary painter and collage maker with an MA in Painting (Distinction). Previously to becoming an artist, Julie Sommerville ran a successful Italian travel company for 25 years. She now works from her studios opposite Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire and Montemassi, Tuscany. Within her art practice she continues to incorporate collage which serves as both preparation for paintings or individual pieces of work. Her paintings are largely aspirational transitional interiors with two-dimensional stencilled backgrounds. Always minimally furnished, her interiors often focus on one iconic design piece of furniture captured in oil.
